History

"the Hills of the Field of Paradise"

This place rises high above its surroundings and is rich with history. Even in Roman times, it was settled by legions who, from this vantage point, dominated the valley.

Many clues testify to the ability of this forgotten parcel of land to grow vines.

1917 : Acquisition of the estate by Mr. Julien Genin, grandfather and great grandfather of the current owners.

1963 : Arrival of Mr. Alain Viret on the estate.

1973 : Mr. Alain Viret succeeds his grandfather.

1985 : Orientation towards a method of viticulture more respectful to both the site and its ecosystem.

1989 : Philippe Viret begins his studies of oenological viticulture. Transformation of the estate to a natural cosmoculture.

1998 : Philippe Viret completes his studies and is awarded his diploma in oenology.

1999 : Creation of the Cathedral Cellar, and first grape harvest.

2000 : Launch of the first two vintages - Coudée d'Or et Renaissance.

2007 : Cosmoculture becomes Cosmoculture ® international trademark
